The bench looks great under our oak tree, yet the material and workmanship are of low quality: the screws supplied will not withstand the weather for longer then one season. The predrilled holes and some of the endpieces are not sealed. This will results in unsightly discoloration and rust. I have exchanged all screws for the stainless steel variety and sealed all horizontal holes with silicone with the hope of improving the weatherproofing. I anticipate that the bench will need a coat of paint every year.

This looks great around a tree in my front yard and I've had my cats and strangers come sit on it! Measure the circumference of the tree before ordering if you have a large tree. Mine barely cleared it. The holes needed to be redrilled and I used stainless steel screws.

    The beench is attractive and required someone with carpentry knowlede to put it together relatively easy. The directions were missing steps 2,3,4,5,6, and there were duplicates of steps 1 and 7 & 8. I had to get the other pages on line. Also two small screws were missing but there were extra longer screws which worked ok. Although it says "cedar" I'm not sure it is as it's very light color for cedar. One other thing is that it is varnished but mostly on the top of each piece and the bottom pieces had very little coating. I plan to polyurethane the entire bench to insure it lasts and weathers better.

    For the money you can't beat this tree bench. The bench looks great around the tree! It took me about 2.5hrs to assemble and level. Once leveled, it is very sturdy. I would say that a a cordless driver is essential to building this bench.

      The price of this tree bench was great compared to other similar benches offered at 2 to 3 times the price. I had read reviews saying the assembly was difficult and holes didn't line up. The assembly was simple and straightforward. The only negative is the screws for the seat slats should have been 1/4 inch longer to provide more solid adhesion.
